DECONSTRUCTED LATTICE SLUG
This sculpture was a collaborative effort with colleague Kurtis Gibson. The project requirement was to take a rigid pice of metal lattice and deconstruct it into a sculptural piece through different forms of metal alteration. The pieces we had to deconstruct had a rigid, square, rounded metal frame with horizontal strips between. Our first inclination was to take the inflexible object and make it into a vaguely organic form. We took the frame, cut and stretched it into strips and molded those into an undulating spine. We then took the horizontal strips and hole punched them to create the rest of the form.
During school, I was involved with Art of Space, a campus club run by professors that aimed to transform spaces on campus through occupiable temporary art exhibits. The project shown " RHIZOMATIC GROTTO" was a project I was involved from design through construction.
